IMAS Retail Solutions has begun to create a new benchmark in Point of Sale solutions services, through its latest Radio Frequency Identification Point of Sale solution (RFID POS) due to be launched in the second half of 2005. This solution is fully integrated to IMAS and positions itself to be mutually beneficial to the shopper as well as the retailer.
IMAS RFID POS operates through a chip attached to each item of merchandise. Once the shopper pushes the cart to the check out area the solution will allow the scanner to pick up product information and the quantity of each product. The system will also exhibit the total amount to be paid whereupon the customer could cancel the transaction, make the whole payment through their credit card or even redeem loyalty point and pay the remaining through a credit card, through the EFT feature already built into the RFID POS system.
This variant of the standard POS system therefore offers a huge convenience factor to the retailer. The RFID POS system in time to come could eliminate the operational use of the counter operator. It would also make stock taking far more efficient as all store records would be updated in real time. Stock replenishment would also be far easier as the retailer would have the stock outs outline at his finger tips. The retailer will also get added security for his stocks as there will be a total elimination of shop lifting since the scanners will pick up all products going out of the store.
From a shopper's point of view this solution would offer them more convenience at the retail store. Queues at the checkout counters would be reduced as this solution would offer self service check out counter giving shoppers greater flexibility and independence as well as a far more hassle free shopping experience.
The IMAS RFID POS system is also back by the IMAS customer support and fully documented product manuals and literature. While still in development stage this latest addition to the IMAS Retail Solutions range promises to enhance retail solutions for the retailer by increasing convenience and efficiency in back office operations and management while also improving the in-store security as well as making the shopping experience more convenient for the retailer's customers, giving them a reason to return.
